Bright Ideas Privacy Policy

The Short Version

We do not collect any information about you. None.

Bright Ideas has no user accounts, no servers, no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. Everything you record stays on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, in your own personal iCloud account. Masson Technologies never receives, sees, stores, or has access to any of it.

The rest of this policy explains how that works in more detail.

1. Who We Are

Bright Ideas is developed by Masson Technologies LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”), an independent iOS studio. This policy describes what happens to your data when you use the Bright Ideas app on iPhone and iPad.

2. What We Collect

Nothing.

We do not collect, receive, transmit, or store:

Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact details
Your voice recordings or transcriptions
The summaries or keywords the app generates
Your search terms
Location data
Device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or IP addresses
Usage analytics, crash reports, or diagnostics
Anything else

We do not operate any servers. There is nowhere for your data to go except your own device and your own iCloud account.

3. What the App Stores on Your Device

To function, Bright Ideas saves the following on your device only, using Apple’s SwiftData framework:

The text transcribed from your voice recordings
A short summary and set of keywords generated for each idea
The date and time each idea was recorded

This data belongs to you and lives on your device. The app does not upload it to Masson Technologies or anyone else.

Audio is not retained. Bright Ideas transcribes your speech as you speak and keeps only the resulting text. No audio recording is saved.

4. iCloud Sync

If you are signed in to iCloud on your device, Bright Ideas uses Apple’s CloudKit service to sync your ideas between your own Apple devices and to keep them safe if you delete or reinstall the app.

Important things to understand about this:

The data goes into your iCloud account, in a private database that only you can access
Masson Technologies cannot read, access, or retrieve anything in your iCloud account
Apple encrypts this data in transit and at rest
Your use of iCloud is governed by Apple’s privacy policy, not ours
You can turn iCloud sync off at any time in your device Settings under your Apple ID → iCloud

5. On-Device Processing

All speech recognition and AI processing in Bright Ideas happens on your device using Apple’s built-in frameworks:

Speech transcription uses Apple’s Speech framework, running locally
Summaries and keywords are generated by Apple’s on-device FoundationModels

Nothing is sent to Masson Technologies or to any external AI service for processing.

6. Permissions

Bright Ideas asks for one permission:

Microphone — required so the app can hear you when you record an idea. The microphone is only active while you are recording. You can revoke this permission at any time in Settings, though the app will not be able to record without it.

7. Subscriptions

Bright Ideas offers an optional subscription, purchased and managed entirely through Apple’s App Store.

Apple handles all payment processing. We never see your payment details, billing address, or card information.
Apple provides the app with a subscription status so it can unlock premium features. This is handled on your device.
You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings or through the Manage Subscription option in the app.

8. Deleting Your Data

Because we hold none of your data, deletion is entirely in your hands:

Delete a single idea: swipe to delete it in the app
Delete everything: use Delete All My Data in the app’s Settings, which removes all ideas from your device and from your iCloud account
Remove iCloud data manually: you can also manage app data in your device Settings under your Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage

Note that deleting your data does not cancel a subscription. Subscriptions are managed separately through Apple.

9. Children

Bright Ideas is not directed at children under 13, and because we collect no information from anyone, we collect no information from children.

10. Your Rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR (Europe) and CCPA (California) give you rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data that a company holds about you.

Masson Technologies holds no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to access, delete, or export. All of your data is already under your direct control on your device and in your iCloud account. For questions about data held by Apple in iCloud, please contact Apple.

We do not sell, share, or disclose personal information to anyone, because we have none.

11. Changes to This Policy

If we ever change how Bright Ideas handles data, we will update this policy and change the effective date above. If a future version of the app were to collect any information, we would say so clearly and ask for your consent first.
